I spent several days visiting with a friend who lives and works at Jeevan School. Out of respect to the kids I took no photos while visiting them. I had a great time with one boy of around 8 yrs old who loved to hug and hang around my neck. I noticed he had a few strange sores on his skin. They thought it was a skin infection of some type however while I was visiting we learned it was leprosy. Although my days in Varanasi were too short to truly discuss the city and the work of Jeevan my friend's blog is excellent and it sugar coats nothing www.siobhanog.wordpress.com/2013/09/16/jeevan-news-august-2013/ Thank you big black plastic tank for hot water! Although, the weather was 112-116 fahrenheit and we needed no hot water. Some cold water or a fan would have been nice but with electricity working only 30% of the time comfort was not usually an option.
